The new server room of the Regional Data Centre was officially inaugurated Wednesday September 10th at the Brussels fire service, in the presence of the BRIC general management.
While awaiting the opening of the large Regional Data Centre in 2017, a third server room was opened – the first two are located respectively at Avenue des Arts 21 and at the ULB – in the offices of the Brussels fire service. An extension that is perfectly in line with the regional pooling plans, whereby various regional partners share resources to optimise their ICT budget.

One of the major portals that are to be hosted here is the regional portal website www.brussel.irisnet.be. The official portal website of the Brussels-Capital Region could obviously not be in better and safer hands than the fire service.

A brand new server room has now been installed on the third floor of the fire and emergency services headquarters: two rows of three racks, with three inrows, contained in an area in which the warm corridor can be separated from the cold, thereby enhancing energy efficiency. This is the very best that is currently available in terms of server rooms. Within three years, the new Regional Data Centre will replace the main site (21 avenue des Arts), while the server room currently housed at the Brussels fire service will be moved to 21 avenue des Arts.
