Data is the pillar of digital transformation. The optimisation of data sharing and exchange [fr] between the various public players and the development of innovative models (AI, Data Science, Advanced Analytics) encourages the emergence of new uses, synonymous with value creation for the Region as a whole.
The operating rules and standards which govern the use of the Brussels data platform simplify data governance (responsibility, monitoring, quality, access) and strengthen data security.
A more effective digital strategy
The Brussels data platform allows the adoption of a simple, effective digital strategy. It simplifies data collection (including in real time), makes it possible to quickly view the inventory of the available data so you can access the correct data faster, exchange or share data easily, either internally or between regional public entities, or store, process, and analyse data in order to extract its full value.
The Data Catalogue, the Integration Hub and the Data Hub: tools for the digital transition
The Brussels data platform works with three tools:
The Data Catalogue: this catalogue is a strategic data governance tool. It serves as an inventory of available data and provides information for assessing its status. It allows the sharing of information on data within an entity or between entities in the Region and facilitates its understanding.
The Integration Hub: this is the central one-stop shop for facilitating the implementation of an effective digital strategy through the integration and exchange of customer data within their organisation, within the Region or with third-party partners. It connects different data systems together to enable:
- data integration for analysis and archiving;
- data sharing with other regional entities;
- the sharing of Data Hub data with applications and services;
- access to data from other entities in the Region;
- data integration to/from third-party applications or services
The Data Hub: provides a single location for data storage, processing and analysis, and computing power. It enables the best use to be made of data by carrying out innovative data enhancement projects (data science/artificial intelligence) to improve the digital transition.
As data is the backbone of the digital transition, an effective data governance tool with a focus on data security is essential. The Data Catalogue, the Integration Hub and the Data Hub of the Brussels data platform allow the adoption of an efficient and simplified digital strategy for data enhancement.
