The world's largest Smart City Congress took place in Barcelona from 15 to 17 November: the Smart City Expo World Congress.

This annual conference highlighted the Smart City from every angle: all sectors were represented, as were all stakeholders (institutions, experts, start-ups, etc.).

With more than 40,000 visitors in person and online, nearly 800 exhibitors and almost 400 speakers, this event brought together 700 cities to debate, share their visions and present solutions for the development of Smart Cities worldwide.

The BRIC was well represented in Barcelona, with the presence of Nicolas Locoge (Director General of the BRIC), Tanguy De Lestré (Smart City and Innovation Officer), Tania Maamary (Digital Inclusion Coordinator) and Jane Samain (Strategic Coordinator). The delegation also included Patricia Abarca de la Fuente (Advisor on Digital Transition and Administrative Simplification to the Cabinet of Minister Bernard Clerfayt), Laurent Bouty and Thierry Maxheleau (IRISnet).

This Smart City mission was also an opportunity to visit several Smart projects in central Barcelona, including the 22@ district and the Digital Lab of Smart Lab Catalonia.
